Technical Data Specialist

Join us and help our customers make the most of our data

Have you completed a degree in Business IT & Management or a related discipline? Do you have a strong interest in the state of web technologies, including past, present and current trends? Can you transform complicated data into structured datasets? Then this might be the position for you!

What you'll do

Leading organizations, governments and universities are using our structured search engine to find very specific information about companies: for instance, what web technologies, such as Salesforce, Zoho, Adobe, HubSpot and Shopify Plus, businesses around the world are using.

Creating a dataset that answers such complex queries is difficult, that’s why we’ve created Recipes: prefiltered custom templates relevant to a particular industry (domains and hosting, e-commerce, payments, economics, online marketplaces, business classification and more) that help our customers get the data they need with a single click.

We’re currently looking for a technical data specialist to take the lead in creating new custom Recipes and keeping all existing ones up to date. You’ll do this by searching in HTML and DNS TXT records to find clues if a certain technology is used on a website, which is detected via fingerprint matching. Your daily responsibilities will entail collaborating with our data science and sales and marketing teams; making new Recipes and updating existing ones on a monthly basis; keeping your finger on the pulse of the latest digital and business developments and, in close communication with our data science and sales and marketing teams, actively generating new Recipes in light of web trends; working on our Technology Detection project; and supporting our sales and marketing team.

As we’re building our own product, you’ll have freedom in how to approach certain aspects of your work. Also, your focus will be on precision and quality rather than speed and deadlines.

This is an entry-level job: there is plenty of room to grow within the company and become part of our sales and marketing team.

Who you are

You’re structured and precise in your work and eager to learn the complexity of our product. In addition:

  • You’ve completed a degree in Business IT & Management or a related discipline (MBO or HBO)
  • You’ve got basic experience with HTML and CSS
  • You’ve got basic knowledge in DNS, networks and hosting
  • You’re proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • You’re innately curious and love to browse through data
  • You’re interested in the latest digital and web technologies trends
  • You’re organized and you work with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of PHP, Python or another scripting language is a plus
  • Affinity with OSINT is a plus
  • You have an EU passport

What we offer

This is your chance to join a dynamic tech company where you’ll be part of a very ambitious and smart team on a mission to structure the global web. You’ll get all the benefits of working for an agile scale-up such as a relaxed work environment, the possibility to work from home part of the time, easy-going colleagues and freedom in your work.

Dataprovider.com transforms the internet into an ever-growing structured database

The web is the world’s greatest information source - literally and figuratively. It contains more valuable information than all annual reports and trend analyses rolled into one. However, the web is also the world’s greatest source of information chaos: that’s why it’s difficult to extract qualitative data.

Founded in Groningen in 2012, Dataprovider.com has been structuring relevant digital actions into concrete insights that are used worldwide by leading organizations such as PayPal, Statistics Netherlands, United Nations, GoDaddy, Mollie, Takeaway.com and the investment industry. We’re growing fast and we’re always on the lookout for new talent!

    Our team

Our team consists of a wide range of professionals: data scientists, data support engineers, developers, designers, account managers and the list goes on. Most of the people at Dataprovider.com have been working here for long: they started while they were students and have been an inseparable part of the team ever since. Our slogan is “Work hard, work together and help each other out, always.” When we aren’t working hard, we’re eating ice cream (anytime of the day or year) and playing board games, ping-pong or American pool.
